Tinctures & Extracts — A Guide
Amazonian plant tinctures are one of the most powerful and accessible ways to work with the sacred medicines of the jungle. Each tincture carries the concentrated essence of a plant — its active properties carefully extracted and preserved so that its wisdom can travel with you, wherever you are.

What is a Tincture?
A tincture is a concentrated herbal extract made using alcohol, which draws out and preserves the active compounds of a plant for therapeutic use. Alcohol is one of the oldest and most effective mediums for plant extraction — it captures a wide spectrum of a plant's properties and keeps them stable over time.
Our tinctures are prepared in small batches with care and intention, ensuring potency and quality in every bottle.
Alcohol Tinctures vs Glycerine Extracts
Alcohol Tinctures vs Glycerine Extracts
We offer two types of extract — alcohol-based tinctures and glycerine extracts.
Alcohol tinctures are generally stronger and have a longer shelf life. They are the traditional method of extraction and tend to produce the most potent results.
Glycerine extracts are made with organic vegetable glycerine instead of alcohol. They are a gentler option and ideal for those who prefer to avoid alcohol. The natural sweetness of glycerine also makes them more pleasant to take, particularly with bitter herbs. They are not quite as strong as alcohol tinctures but are still highly effective.
Tincture Ratios — Why Ours Are Different
Most tinctures on the market are made at a 1:5 ratio — one part plant to five parts liquid. Ours are made at a much stronger 1:2 ratio as standard, meaning more plant per drop and noticeably more potent results. For maximum strength we also offer a 1:1 ratio — equal parts plant to liquid.
Our glycerine extracts are available in both 1:2, 1:1 and for maximum strength we also 5:1 ratio for deeper work.
More plant benefits and less drops needed That's the difference.
Storage & Shelf Life
Store tinctures in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Always keep lids tightly closed when not in use to prevent alcohol evaporation.
Alcohol-based tinctures are best used within 3–6 months of receiving them. Glycerine extracts are best used within 6 months.
Tinctures & the Dieta Tradition
Working with tinctures is not the same as sitting with a plant in a full jungle dieta — but it is a genuine and powerful way to begin or continue a relationship with plant medicine. Many people find that consistent, intentional work with a tincture over weeks or months brings real shifts — physically, emotionally and spiritually. If you are called to go deeper, you can read our full guide to the dieta tradition on the website.
