Bobinsana & Hawthorn — 1:2 Alcohol Tincture

Amazon meets Europe. Two great heart medicines from opposite ends of the world — united in one tincture.

This blend brings together two plants from entirely different traditions, separated by continents and centuries of distinct healing knowledge, that share a single profound focus — the heart. Bobinsana from the riversides of the Amazon, worked with by Amazonian healers as a master plant of emotional healing and dreaming. Hawthorn from the hedgerows and sacred groves of Europe, revered in herbal medicine and folk tradition for its deep affinity with the physical and emotional heart. Together they form a tincture that works on every dimension of heart health — physical, emotional and spiritual.

The Plants

Bobinsana — Calliandra angustifolia

Doctorcita. The little doctor. The heart opener of the Amazon.

Bobinsana grows along the banks of Amazonian rivers, her roots permanently submerged in water, her pink flowers reaching toward the light. This relationship with water is not incidental — it is the very heart of her medicine. In Amazonian tradition, Bobinsana is associated with the spirits of the water, particularly the mermaids and water beings known as the Yacuruna — the people of the water, considered amongst the most powerful and beautiful spirits in the Amazonian cosmos. To work with Bobinsana is to work with water energy — fluid, feeling, deep and connective.

She is a feminine spirit of extraordinary grace, one who teaches through the heart rather than the mind. Shamans who have dieted deeply with her speak of being taken beneath the water in their visions — into the world of the water spirits — where teachings of love, healing and connection are received.

Traditionally worked with for grief, loss, emotional numbness and deep sadness, Bobinsana heightens empathy and emotional sensitivity, enhances vivid dreaming and visionary insight, and brings a quiet but persistent opening of the heart over weeks of consistent use. She is often the first master plant given to those beginning a relationship with Amazonian medicine — a gentle, loving introduction to the world of plant teachers.

Bobinsana is traditionally used as a natural contraceptive by indigenous communities — do not use if you are trying to conceive.

Hawthorn — Crataegus monogyna

Hawthorn is one of the most ancient and deeply respected plants in European herbal tradition. It has grown on this land for thousands of years — a boundary plant, a sacred tree, a guardian of the threshold between the ordinary world and the unseen. In Celtic tradition it was considered one of the most sacred trees in existence, planted at sacred sites and associated with the faery realm and the otherworld. It was never cut without ceremony.

As a physical medicine, Hawthorn is one of the most well-documented and respected heart tonics in Western herbalism. It strengthens and regulates the cardiovascular system, supports healthy circulation and blood pressure, and has been used traditionally to ease the physical symptoms of emotional distress — the tight chest, the racing heart, the shallow breath that comes with grief, anxiety and loss.

On the emotional and spiritual level, Hawthorn is a plant of protection and love. It is associated in folk tradition with the warding off of negative energies and the creation of a safe, loving energetic field. In the language of plants it has always meant love — but specifically the mature, grounded, protective kind. Not the falling-in-love kind but the staying kind.

Alongside Bobinsana's opening and dreaming qualities, Hawthorn provides a grounded, protective container — holding the heart safe as it opens.

The Two Together

Bobinsana opens the heart and carries the dreamer inward. Hawthorn strengthens and protects the heart and holds the physical body steady as that opening happens. For those doing deep emotional work — processing grief, recovering from heartbreak, working through loss or simply seeking to live with more openness and love — this is a deeply supportive combination. One plant opens. One plant holds.

About This Tincture

Prepared as a 1:2 alcohol tincture — one part plant material to two parts organic alcohol. Bobinsana bark and leaves are sourced directly from trusted indigenous partners in the Amazon. Hawthorn is ethically sourced from traditional European growing regions. Prepared in small batches by hand with care and respect for both plants and both traditions.

Most tinctures on the market are made at a 1:5 ratio. Ours are 1:2 as standard — significantly more plant per drop and noticeably stronger.

How to Use

5 drops under the tongue twice daily, away from food and drink. Hold briefly before swallowing. This blend works gradually and cumulatively — its effects deepen over weeks of consistent use. Works well taken morning and evening. Keep a notebook by your bed — Bobinsana often communicates through dreams.

Important
