Capirona — Calycophyllum spruceanum 1:2 Alcohol Tincture
The Tree of Youth. A plant of deep spiritual cleansing, renewal and protection.
Capirona is one of the most distinctive trees in the Amazon. Also known as Mulateiro or Pau-Mulato, it is immediately recognisable by its smooth, cream-coloured bark that peels away from the trunk in sheets — constantly shedding its outer layer and revealing fresh, clean skin beneath. In the Amazonian tradition this is not just a botanical curiosity. It is the signature of the plant's medicine. Capirona teaches renewal through release — the shedding of what has accumulated, the old layers that no longer serve, to reveal what is clean and vital underneath.
It is a master plant worked with by the Shipibo and other Amazonian tribes for deep spiritual cleansing, energetic protection and the restoration of inner strength and clarity.
Traditional Uses
Capirona is primarily a plant of cleansing and protection. In Amazonian shamanism it is used to dispel dark, stagnant or heavy energies from the body, the aura and the surrounding space. It clears what has accumulated — old emotional residue, negative influences, the weight of difficult periods — and restores a sense of lightness, clarity and energetic integrity.
It is traditionally worked with to restore self-esteem and inner confidence, particularly in those who have been diminished by difficult circumstances or toxic relationships. It strengthens the sense of self, supports resilience and helps a person reclaim their own energetic ground.
Known as the Tree of Youth, Capirona is also associated with physical renewal and vitality. It has been used in Amazonian folk medicine for skin health — reflecting the same qualities its bark embodies — as well as for stress relief and energetic balance.
Traditionally it is recommended to work with Capirona for a minimum of 21 days in a consistent cycle, ideally alongside a simple and clean diet, to allow its cumulative effects to build fully. Like the tree's bark that takes time to peel and renew, the medicine works gradually, revealing its depth through consistent engagement.
The Spirit of Capirona
The spirit of Capirona is clean, clear and precise. It is not a plant of visions or deep emotional opening in the way that Bobinsana or Caapi might be — it is a plant of purification and fortification. Those who work with it describe a progressive sense of clarity emerging over the weeks of use — the feeling of unnecessary weight being shed, of the energy field becoming more coherent and defined.
The smooth, constantly renewing bark speaks directly. This is a plant that models what it teaches. Release the old. Let the new surface. Stand clean in who you are.
About This Extract
Our Capirona tincture is prepared as a 1:2 alcohol tincture — one part wild-harvested Capirona bark to two parts organic alcohol. The bark is the part of the plant traditionally used by Amazonian healers, carrying the strongest concentration of the plant's active compounds and energetic properties.
Most tinctures on the market are made at a 1:5 ratio. Ours are 1:2 as standard — significantly more plant per drop and noticeably stronger. Sourced directly from trusted indigenous partners in the Amazon, prepared in small batches by hand with care and respect for the plant and the tradition it comes from.
How to Use
5 drops under the tongue twice daily, away from food and drink. Hold briefly before swallowing. A recommended cycle of 21 days of consistent use allows the medicine to work cumulatively — its effects deepen with time and regularity. Approaching the cycle with a simple, clean diet and reduced stimulants will significantly deepen the experience.
Important
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before use if you are taking prescribed medication. Not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any medical condition. This product is offered for its ethnobotanical and traditional value.
