Chakapa, Chacarpa or Huaira Sacha - is a ritual leaf rattle that is used in Amazonian healing rituals to call in divine spirits, to break up dense energy, and as an instrument in combination with sacred chants to guide journeys.
Their sound is reminiscent of the murmur of the mighty treetops of the forest and their movements allow the air to circulate gently, they carry the "wind of the forest" within them. This makes them particularly suitable for wind or air rituals. Our Chakapas can also be used in healing energy work, sound therapy and of course in the singing of sacred icaros and medicine songs . Beaten or shaken, the rhythm also supports trance journeys. They are perfect for calling in the divine feminine spirt used in icaros and chanting..
This chakapa features ethically sourced Macaw Parrot and bird feathers, Organic cotton handle with leather tassels and fur cuff and shipibo pattern fabric detail. Our Chakapas are made using genuine Pariana leaves, traditionally sourced from the Shipibo people of the Peruvian Amazon. We then individually decorate and finish each Chakapa ourselves, creating a unique ceremonial piece while preserving the beautiful natural sound of the traditional leaves.
Our Chakapa's are all hand made by hand and each one is unique and has its own quality size and feel.
