Banisteriopsis Caapi & Bobinsana — Glycerine Extracts
Two of the great heart medicines of the Amazon. A natural pairing of the Mother Vine and the little doctor — working together on the heart, the dreams and the spirit.
These two plants have a long history of being worked with together in Amazonian ceremony and dieta. Caapi opens and restructures — clearing old emotional patterns and creating space. Bobinsana fills that space with warmth, compassion and dreaming. Together they form one of the most powerful combinations available for emotional healing, heart opening and deep inner work.
Both are available as alcohol-free glycerine extracts in two concentrations. Choose based on your needs and sensitivity.
Bobinsana — Calliandra angustifolia
The Heart Opener. The Dreaming Ally. Doctorcita — the little doctor.
Bobinsana grows along the banks of Amazonian rivers, her roots submerged in water, her pink flowers reaching toward the light. This relationship with water is not incidental — it is the heart of her medicine. In Amazonian tradition, Bobinsana is associated with the spirits of the water, particularly the mermaids and water beings known as the Yacuruna — the people of the water, considered amongst the most powerful and beautiful spirits in the Amazonian cosmos.
She is considered a feminine plant of extraordinary grace — one who teaches through the heart rather than the mind. Shamans who have dieted deeply with Bobinsana speak of being taken beneath the water in their visions, into the world of the water spirits, where teachings of love, healing and connection are received.
Bobinsana is traditionally worked with for grief, loss, emotional numbness and the kind of sadness that sits deep in the chest and doesn't shift easily. She heightens empathy and emotional sensitivity, deepens dream recall and visionary insight, and over weeks of consistent use brings a quiet but persistent opening of the heart. She is often the first master plant given to those beginning a relationship with Amazonian medicine.
Bobinsana is traditionally used as a natural contraceptive by indigenous communities — do not use if you are trying to conceive.
Banisteriopsis Caapi — The Mother Vine
Banisteriopsis Caapi is one of the most sacred and widely worked with master plants in the Amazon. Known as the Mother Vine, she is the backbone of Ayahuasca ceremony — though she is a powerful and complete medicine in her own right, entirely separate from the brew.
Caapi works primarily on emotional structure — the deep patterns, limiting beliefs and emotional blockages that have calcified over years and quietly shape our behaviour and experience. She is a plant of emotional release and restructuring, known for breaking cycles of self-sabotage, strengthening intuition, and cultivating compassion and clarity. Those who work with her consistently often describe a gradual but profound shift — as though the emotional landscape beneath everyday life is being quietly reorganised.
Caapi is a natural MAO-inhibitor, which contributes to its mood-supporting and emotionally opening properties. It is traditionally associated with clarity of mind, emotional resilience and the cultivation of joy and heart-centred awareness.
About These Extracts
Both plants are available as alcohol-free glycerine extracts in two concentrations:
1:1 Glycerine Extract — equal parts plant material to glycerine. Potent, full-spectrum and well suited to those building a sustained daily relationship with the plant. A strong and effective preparation without alcohol.
5:1 Glycerine Extract — our most concentrated preparation. Five parts plant material to one part liquid. Most extracts sold elsewhere are made at the reverse ratio — 1:5 — meaning five parts liquid to one part plant. Ours is the opposite. This is among the most concentrated alcohol-free plant extracts available and is intended for those seeking a deeper, more intensive experience.
Both are 100% plant-based — no alcohol, no fillers, no synthetic ingredients. Prepared in small batches by hand from plant material sourced directly from indigenous partners in the Amazon.
How to Use
5 drops under the tongue twice daily, away from food and drink. Hold briefly before swallowing. Both plants work gradually — their effects deepen over weeks of consistent use. Approach with clear intention and allow time for reflection, dreamwork and integration. Keep a notebook by your bed — both Bobinsana and Caapi communicate through dreams.
