Shiwawaku & Mother Vine — 1:1 Glycerine Extract
The Purple Medicine meets the Mother Vine. The masculine giant of the forest, and the vine that climbs it.
Shiwawaku — also known as Shihuahuaco, botanically Dipteryx micrantha — is the tallest and strongest tree in the Amazon jungle. It is known to carry a masculine spirit and energy, and in the forest itself, Shiwawaku serves as the literal physical vehicle for the curving, feminine Banisteriopsis Caapi vine to climb upward toward the light. This is the structured masculine supporting the fluid feminine — a relationship between these two plants that exists in nature itself, long before either is ever prepared as medicine.
Considered one of the most highly evolved plant consciousnesses in the Shipibo tradition, Shiwawaku's spirit is said to appear as a large, dimensional man whose body shines with a polished, metallic sheen. It is fiercely purple in its medicine — its soft outer bark colourful in hues of pink, green and yellow, and those who work with it in ceremony commonly describe a sensation of purple light and gentle tingling around the crown of the head.
The Spirit of Shiwawaku
Shiwawaku is known as the Purple Medicine for its association with activating the crown chakra — opening, petal by petal, like a lotus flower, reminding the dieter of their connection to the universe and to universal knowledge that has always been there, waiting to be remembered.
Its energy is described as soft, loving and deeply supportive. Those undergoing dieta with this plant often describe being cradled in a purple, loving, universal energy — reminded at the deepest level that this love is what they are, at their very essence.
Shiwawaku is a tree of healing and protection. It cloaks and cradles the dieter, lovingly bringing into awareness what needs to be seen, while reminding them that they are pure love and already carry everything they will ever need within their own heart. Because dieting this powerful tree requires a degree of preparation, it is generally recommended that a person work with a few other plants first before approaching Shiwawaku — the dieter is gently tested with their own shadow aspects as part of the process.
It is a plant of strong energetic protection — particularly valuable for those who are sensitive and easily affected by the energies of others, those navigating oppressive environments, or those carrying heavy emotions such as shame, guilt, remorse or anger. Shiwawaku strengthens the auric field, preventing dense energies from entering the body, while encouraging compassion and a genuine desire to help others.
Banisteriopsis Caapi — The Mother Vine
Banisteriopsis Caapi is one of the most sacred and widely worked with master plants in the Amazon. Known as the Mother Vine, she works primarily on emotional structure — the deep patterns, limiting beliefs and emotional blockages that quietly shape behaviour and experience over years. She is a plant of emotional release and restructuring, strengthening intuition and cultivating compassion and clarity.
Caapi is a natural MAO-inhibitor, contributing to its mood-supporting and emotionally opening properties.
The Two Together
In the forest, Shiwawaku is the structure the Mother Vine climbs. In this extract, that same relationship plays out energetically — Shiwawaku provides the strong, protective, masculine container of crown-opening light and emotional armour, while Caapi works the emotional ground beneath, clearing old patterns and restructuring what no longer serves. Together they form a synergy well suited to deep emotional release, protection from oppressive or dense energies, and the kind of heart-centred grounding that comes from being held safely while doing difficult inner work.
About This Extract
Prepared as a 1:1 glycerine extract — one part plant material to one part organic vegetable glycerine — combining Shiwawaku bark with Banisteriopsis Caapi. Alcohol-free, naturally sweet and potent. Both plants are sourced directly from trusted indigenous partners in the Amazon, prepared in small batches by hand with care and respect for both plants and the Shipibo tradition they come from.
